Risk warning
Alternative investments and pre-IPO opportunities carry a high degree of risk and are suitable only for investors who understand those risks and can bear them. Please read the following carefully.
- Loss of capital
- You may get back less than you invest, or lose all of your invested capital.
- Illiquidity
- These investments usually cannot be sold or redeemed on demand. There may be no market for them, and you may be unable to exit when you wish.
- Long holding periods
- Capital is typically committed for many years, and the timing of any return is uncertain.
- Limited information and valuation
- Private companies and funds disclose less than listed companies. Valuations are estimates and may differ sharply from the price finally realised.
- Concentration
- A fund or a single company may represent a concentrated exposure. Diversification reduces risk but does not remove it.
- Pre-IPO risk
- A planned listing may be delayed, repriced or cancelled. Shares bought before a listing may be subject to lock-in, and the listing price may be lower than the price you paid.
- Regulatory and tax change
- Changes in law, regulation or tax treatment can affect the value of an investment and your ability to hold or sell it.
- Past performance
- Past performance is not a reliable guide to future results.
If you are in any doubt about whether an investment is suitable for you, seek independent professional financial and tax advice.
